Bandipur Rural Municipality has distributed 30 free guns to the farmers affected by monkeys in Bandipur. Under the rural municipality, the distribution of firearms to 14 farmers of large cardamom in the first phase was carried out.
According to the spokesperson of the rural municipality, Shiv Kumar Shrestha, the gun for scaring monkeys is very effective compared to other devices due to its loud sound. The rustic city has prioritized the farmers troubled and surprised by the monkeys in the first phase. They have encouraged the farmers to focus on alternative farming methods that are less prone to damage caused by monkeys.
Suren Thapa, the chairperson of the rural municipality, provided information that the farmers requested the equipment to scare monkeys after their paddy and vegetable crops were severely destroyed. He mentioned that the rural city had allocated a budget of NPR 1 million for addressing the farmers’ demand. The Agricultural Knowledge Center has urged farmers to engage in alternative farming methods and cultivate crops such as Zinger and Turmeric in the areas where monkeys have caused distress.
After causing havoc, monkeys have been involved in commercial farming on approximately 200 hectares of land in Wards 8 and 13 under Vyas Municipality. Senior Agriculture Development Officer Kul Prasad Tiwari stated that NPR 700,000 was provided in grants for the two wards. He said, “We have provided a significant amount of money for farmers to purchase seeds and necessary tools.”
