The IAAS Scientific Event 2025, an international academic gathering of students, researchers, and agricultural practitioners, is set to take place from August 30 to September 1 at the Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), Rampur, Chitwan, Nepal. The event is jointly organized by the IAAS Nepal Local Committee, AFU and the Food and Agriculture Youth Institute (FAYI), with the aim of advancing dialogue between science, policy, and practice in the agri-food sector.
Over three days, the conference will host a wide range of academic, policy, and cultural sessions. The opening ceremony will feature a keynote address, welcoming dance, and speeches from the Dean and Vice Chancellor of AFU. Sessions on NARC research activities, scientific paper presentations, poster competitions, and proposal writing will provide a platform for young researchers to share their work. Key highlights include panel discussions on “Bridging Policy & Practice in Agri-Food Systems” and “Innovation to Implementation: Transforming Villages through Youth Engagement”, alongside the FAYI Policy Workshop on “Waste to Wealth: Turning Trash into Treasure.”
In addition to academic discourse, the event will integrate interactive and cultural elements such as drama performances, poster walks, networking sessions, a fun bingo game, and a Cultural and Auction Night. Participants will also engage in field visits to Sagar Bee, Muktinath Krishi Company, and Bish Hajari Tal, gaining practical exposure to agricultural enterprises and ecological sites. The conference will conclude with an award and certificate ceremony recognizing outstanding contributions.
Reflecting on the event, Mr. Upendra Bhusal, Head of FAYI, highlighted the importance of youth-led innovation, saying: “This platform is not just about academic exchange, but about sparking solutions that youth can take back to their communities. Agriculture needs innovation and collaboration — and youth are at the center of both.” Similarly, Mr. Kiran Khanal, Local Director of IAAS Nepal LC AFU, noted: “We are proud to bring together passionate youth, experts, and stakeholders under one roof. The IAAS Scientific Event is about transforming ideas into action, and we believe it will inspire a new wave of change-makers in agriculture.”
With its blend of scientific inquiry, policy dialogue, innovation showcases, and cultural exchange, the IAAS Scientific Event 2024 promises to position Rampur, Chitwan, as a vibrant hub of international agricultural dialogue and youth engagement.
