A photograph of a woman from Jumla, wearing traditional Nepali clothes, was displayed at The BEAT Exhibition in São Paulo, Brazil, from October 9 to 19. This exhibition, organized by Artillimix at Ecoz Studio, featured 53 pieces from artists and photographers from 24 countries.
The photo was taken by Raj Adhikari, a wildlife photographer and sociology student, while he was visiting an apple orchard in Patarasi, Jumla. The image caught the attention of many international visitors, showcasing Nepali culture and identity. Adhikari said, “Promoting our culture and attire globally can really help boost Nepali tourism.” He noted that people appreciated the photo, indicating a strong interest in Nepali traditions.
This isn’t the first time Adhikari’s work has been recognized internationally; he previously displayed another photograph of a rural woman at an exhibition in Italy. Raj Adhikari is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Rural Sociology at Agriculture and Forestry University in Rampur, Chitwan.
