“Relief for Farmers: Ministry Supports Agriculture and Animal Husbandry in Bagmati Province”

The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry in Bagmati Province has started giving help to farmers who suffered losses in agriculture. They have provided relief to eight farmers in KavrePalanchok. The ministry approved an amount of 5.46 million rupees for this relief.

In the current year’s plan (2079-080), the province had allocated 30 million rupees for dealing with emergencies and unexpected diseases and reducing damages caused by natural and non-natural disasters.

According to the ministry’s spokesperson, Jhalaknath Kandel, they are following the Relief Distribution Procedure 2079 to provide relief to farmers affected by disasters. The relief amount, approved by the Relief Management and Direction Committee led by Minister Dr. Rajendraman Shrestha, will be given to the farmers.

Besides compensating for bird flu, a contagious disease among birds, the ministry also relieves farmers affected by other natural disasters like hailstorms and floods.

The ministry has included relief in its programs for livestock and agricultural products that are not insured. As they have received requests for relief funds from various districts, the ministry is gradually approving relief amounts for all sections.

The ministry’s secretary, Dr. Sharan Kumar Pande, stated that they are also planning to provide relief funds for farmers affected by other diseases and disasters like the African swine fever outbreak and heat stress in poultry caused by climate change.

Overall, the ministry works to relieve farmers affected by various diseases, disasters, and natural calamities in agriculture, livestock, and fisheries.
