Gastric problems are common nowadays. Indigestion, burping, loss of appetite, upper abdominal discomfort, bloating, acid reflux, chest and abdominal pain are all symptoms of gastric issues. If left untreated, these symptoms can worsen and lead to ulcers. Consuming spicy, fried, acidic, and salty foods on a regular basis can contribute to gastric problems. Even irregular eating habits can cause stomach problems. Ayurveda suggests some home remedies for gastric problems.
Home Remedies
Mint: Consuming herbal tea infused with mint can help reduce gastric issues. Mint enhances digestion and improves digestive power. Drinking mint juice or having mint pickle made from fresh mint leaves in the morning can alleviate gastric problems.
Black Salt: Drinking warm or lukewarm water with black salt soaked in it can benefit in resolving gastric problems. It helps in relieving gastric issues.
Mint: Washing mint leaves thoroughly with clean or lukewarm water and chewing them or consuming mint juice in the morning can aid in improving digestion.
Amla Powder: Mixing daily amla powder in warm or lukewarm water and consuming it twice a day, preferably on an empty stomach in the morning, can help alleviate gastric problems.
Cinnamon: Using cinnamon as a spice in cooking or boiling cinnamon sticks in warm or lukewarm water and consuming it can help reduce abdominal discomfort.
Yogurt and Buttermilk: Fresh yogurt can be consumed with meals. Avoiding sour yogurt is recommended. Buttermilk can be consumed in the morning and during meals.
Triphala: Triphala aids in improving digestion and relieving constipation, which helps reduce gastric problems. It is beneficial to consume it fresh in the morning after defecation, on an empty stomach. It enhances the immune system. However, it should not be consumed during pregnancy.
Jethi Madhu (Licorice): Mixing licorice powder in lukewarm water and consuming it in the morning, along with fixing meal timings and having meals at the same time every day, can be helpful.
Drinking water in the morning can also provide some relief from gastric issues. Similarly, having regular meal times can help prevent gastric problems.
Complexity: If left untreated, gastric issues can progress to the extent of causing bleeding and ulcers. It can also create hindrances in the digestive system and lead to deficiencies in the body, including calcium deficiency. Without timely treatment, it can result in stomach ulcers and even cancer.
